Like most of our favourite trends, menswear has been an ongoing trend for the past 3-4 seasons. While we would like to take a gander and say that American singer, Janelle Monae made the suit, tie, and oxfords trend popular once again, we’re pretty sure many would dissent and truthfully, we really don’t want that kind of flack. In any event, it always seems to happen that way – a gorgeous, popular, well-dressed artist flaunts a “different”, “edgy” look and all of a sudden everyone’s clamouring to stores or shopping online to find a pant suit and pair of oxfords that don’t make them look fresh out of a scene of Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction.
Nonetheless, what we love the most about the menswear for ladies trend is that it transcends barriers when it comes to basic fashion do’s and don’ts. While women are encouraged to go for more figure flattering, feminine styles, the menswear trend allows women to be themselves, and the ability to choose how we express that, well, that’s simply fabulous! Check out some of our newest arrivals that allow you to show off your… androgynous side.
Enter SoftMoc’s “Basia” 5-eye oxfords. The quintessential women’s oxford for the menswear trend, this shoe is ideal for anyone who wants a staple piece in a neutral colour that can pull together just about any look. Wear them with tailored pants, shorts, mini-skirts – whatever your fashionable heart desires, really.
One of Pantone’s® signature Spring/Summer 2015 colours is Scuba Blue. That being said, we love the fact the European shoemaker, Josef Seibel, incorporated a staple colour of this season with their classic “Caspian” lace ups. This shoe is the perfect shoe to wear on a casual day at the office, while attending a spring or summer festival, or for a laid back date night where you want to show off your fun, flirty side!
Your menswear wardrobe is incomplete without a pair of loafers. Once a shoe wore solely by men, loafers have long become a staple for women who enjoy comfort and all-purpose shoe. Not only are Hush Puppies’ “Lydia Ceil” loafers on trend for menswear for women, but they are also on trend for this season’s statement flats. A pair of these will certainly be a win-win for you!
