Time To Board: Sperry Boat Shoe Collection

Not many of us are lucky enough to be full time yachties – tasked with the “unfortunate” job of  lounging on the open sea, cocktail (complete with umbrella of course) in hand, miles away from anything resembling a problem. Ahhhh can you feel the ocean breeze?

Anddddd, back to reality. But the good news is, you don’t need a super-sized yacht to partake in summer-tivities. There are oodles of ways to bask in the sunshine on land, not to mention the customary summer BBQ. We don’t know about you guys, but the second the rain stops and sunshine is poking through, out come the tongs and veggie platters.

And there is no better fit for water (or land) activities than Sperry Boat Shoes. First of all, they’re impossibly cute, and comfortable to boot. Second, they’re sturdy and practical, leaving your thoughts free to focus on that eye-candy that just walked in the door.. Summer is for frolicking right?

Choosing just one is guaranteed to put you in a pickle – that’s why we’ve secured our top three for your viewing pleasure. See below:

AHOY** Tell us your most memorable experience by the water (boat, canoe, rubber duckie, tube float, you name it) in the comment section below. Extra points for making us laugh :)

sperry-1

The “Audrey” – she has satin piping, a truly elegant twist, in an ivory shade to boot. “First Mate, I’m ready to come aboard.”

sperry-2

“A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor” – English Proverb

True story, but no matter the weather, the “Angelfish” in a blue-grey hue is guaranteed to have you sailing in style.

sperry-3

Ah, this beaut.. the original “Angelfish” in a sandy taupe shade. She was the first to show us how truly glamorous the boating life can be.

All Aboard! Don’t forget to share your wavy memories below.

We used to go to Fairmont Hot Springs for a week in the summertime and our family friends had a motarboat which they used to use on Lake Invermere. It was so much fun! We’d go tubing and just fly through the air – no fear! (When I look back today, I’m horrified by this, but oh well!) and I remember my dad trying out tubing for the first time. He lost his grip and literally just FLEW through the air and belly flopped into the water. It was hilarious! He was ok – just bobbed up in the lake laughing but oh my gosh, what a moment!

Every year my two good friends and I go camping to the same gorgeous lake in the Kawarthas. One of us always manages to fall while taking the canoe out or putting in the water. Wouldn’t have it any other way.

Most memorable has got to be kayaking in Kaui Hawaii, to the falls and having lunch there. I will never forget that experience!

I may not fully remember this moment, but one time when I was 7 and my brother was 3 we were vacationing on a resort in Sri Lanka and chilling poolside. Even though were were in the shallow end, for short little kids, it may have been as deep as the ocean. And while my mom was preoccupied with my 5 year old sister, my brother thought he was a fish (at least that’s the only explanation I have as to why he would do such a careless thing) and jumped into the pool without my mom noticing. At 3, he was far from being Michael Phelps, so as he started going down under I screamed and my mom came to the rescue. If it wasn’t for me, he may not be here with us today! And of course I remind him of the fact that I practically saved his life on the regular to this day.

My favorite memory is boating on the bay with my in laws and my two year old daughter. Her pacifer dropped out of her mouth into the bay as we were boating along and that was the way we got rid of her pacifier for good!

I never liked fishing and my bf would make made me go with him & his friends. I would catch pan fish, so it was a bit of fun. One day I decided to try to for bigger fish like them. I had no clue what I was in for. I hooked my first smallmouth bass and after I reeled it in, I took a break. I was exhausted from the fight lol Now I enjoy going fishing and catch the “big fish”

Have you seen viral videos of wedding parties posing for pictures on a dock…..when the inevitable dock collapse happens? Yes? Well, been there. Done that. And I was one of the ones on the dock. Picture it: beautiful day in June…not too hot….sunny…blue skies….lovely Haliburton setting. My friend had just gotten married, and we were having the pictures taken. “Go on the dock!”, says the photographer, “It will be great!”, says the photographer. The 8 of us traipse out onto the (seemingly solid) dock, strike a pose when…..*creak* *moan*….and SPLASH. 3 of the party managed to leap to dry land in time. I was not one of the fortunate few. Luckily the bride was a VERY laid back person and took it all in a stride. She changed into a back-up reception outfit that she had, the rest of us did the best we could and the day carried on. Does that count as memorable? :-)

The first time my one year old saw the ocean was this January in the Mayan Rivera, Mexico. The smile on his face was priceless, laughing and squeezing while crawling in the sand the waves ticking his toes. Not even a rouge wave splashing sand in his face could dampen his day. I’m so grateful I have a water baby!
